Car Rental Companies in Aitutaki: Contacts and Booking Guide

Aitutaki’s lagoon may be the main attraction, but a car can help you reach meals, shops and corners of the main island at your own pace. For a short stay, it is worth deciding which days you will actually use a vehicle before arranging a full-stay hire.

Here are six car-hire contacts identified through Cook Islands Tourism, its Aitutaki brochure and operator websites. The list is alphabetical and does not rank the companies. Ask each provider to confirm current service, availability and the complete cost for your dates.

About the Google ratings: These are snapshots of public Google business profiles on 20 October 2026, shown out of 5 with the review count. Ratings change, and branch scores are not combined. Follow each profile link to read the latest reviews.

Some Aitutaki operators share a profile with their accommodation or store. Those entries are labelled below: their score covers the overall business and is not a rental-only rating.

Match your hire to your Aitutaki plans

If a lagoon excursion takes up a whole day, compare a shorter car booking with hiring throughout your stay. Ask your accommodation what transfers are included before paying for overlapping transport. Leave room in the plan for shopping, evening meals and getting back after activities.

Confirm airport collection and the return time

Send the provider your arrival and departure flight details. Ask whether you collect at the airport, at the office or at your accommodation, and whether delivery costs extra. For a short island visit, the collection and return times can matter as much as the daily price.

Ask about seats, luggage and the full cost

Describe your passenger numbers, suitcases and any child-seat needs. Request a total quote with fuel, insurance, excess, deposit, extra-driver charges and cancellation conditions clearly explained. If you need an automatic car or a larger vehicle, ask for written confirmation of the category available.

A few checks before driving away

Confirm the company’s current driver and licence requirements. Walk around the car together, photograph existing marks, check the fuel level and ask who to call if something goes wrong. Get the return location and timing in writing.

For wider planning, explore our Aitutaki page and Cook Islands transport guide. If your holiday includes both islands, arrange each island’s vehicle separately and check the local collection instructions.

Popoara is included from that brochure; its rental-desk phone is taken from the linked Google business profile. Confirm current rentals directly.
