Rarotonga Party Buses: Operators, Prices & Booking Guide

Watercolour illustration of a teal party bus and adult holidaymakers beside Rarotonga’s lagoon, with green mountains and a sunset sky.

Looking for a party bus in Rarotonga? A hosted nightlife tour can bring the music, bar stops and return transport together in one booking. The main things to compare are the ticket price, pickup arrangements, finishing time and what you still need to pay for during the evening.

This guide covers Going Troppo, Matangi Tours Bus, Rehab’s Raro Pub Crawl and the Raro by Night option listed by Cook Islands Tourism. The published fares we verified are NZ$55 per guest for Matangi, plus a booking fee, and NZ$85 per adult for Going Troppo for travel through 31 March 2027. Those are two published offers, not a price range covering every operator.

Research checked 22 October 2026. All amounts are in New Zealand dollars. Fares, operating dates, venues and inclusions can change; confirm the full booking total directly. The featured image is an AI-generated illustration of an island night out, not a photograph of an operator’s bus.

Going Troppo: a hosted night out with Raro Tours

Going Troppo suits visitors who want an organised bar-hopping evening with a guide and transport back to their accommodation. Its itinerary describes Hula Bar, 21.3 Vaiana’s and Avarua nightlife stops, including Rehab. Venue order and the evening’s arrangements should be confirmed when booking.

The operator advertises an included welcome drink, a flower ei identification tag and a choice of souvenir drinkware. Its fact sheet also describes bar snacks. This is not an unlimited-drinks package: budget separately for extra drinks and anything not included in your confirmation.

  • Age: strictly 18 and over.
  • Pickup: accommodation transfers; the published pickup window starts around 7pm–8pm.
  • Minimum group: ten booked passengers to operate.
  • Access: the fact sheet says the vehicle is unsuitable for passengers with disabilities. Discuss boarding and mobility needs directly.
  • Private groups: enquiries are welcome for birthdays, hens, stags and other events.

Experience and vehicle details: Raro Tours’ January 2026 fact sheet.

Matangi Tours Bus: check the date and checkout total

Matangi’s hosted operator page promotes music, an open-air bus and four bar stops, with accommodation pickup and an end-of-night drop-off. The advertised fare is NZ$55 per guest. It is an 18+ experience, with four guests needed to depart and a listed capacity of 22.

Current availability note: when checked on 22 October 2026, the booking page said Matangi Night Bus was unavailable from 3–31 October 2026 and asked guests to choose November or later. Its normal advertised hours are Monday–Saturday, 6pm–10pm. Check your actual date before planning around those hours.

Booking-fee check: the hosted profile mentions a NZ$2.50 online fee, while the live booking form showed a NZ$1.50 fee per booking. Its four-person example was NZ$220 in tickets plus NZ$1.50, totalling NZ$221.50. Use the final checkout total for your booking rather than assuming either fee is fixed.

Ask whether drinks, food and any venue-entry charges are included. The booking pages describe individual guest tickets and an 18+ waiver; check their cancellation-credit terms before paying.

Rehab’s Raro Pub Crawl and Raro by Night

Rehab’s Raro Pub Crawl

Cook Islands Tourism lists Rehab’s party bus as a guided pub crawl on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with main-road pickups around the island and a ride home. It is a separate experience from Going Troppo, even though both may visit Rehab.

We could not verify a current operator-published ticket price. Older visitor reports and travel guides quote different figures, so request a dated price and written inclusions. Ask about the final drop-off time, where you wait for pickup, photo-ID requirements and whether entry to Rehab is covered.

Raro by Night — Cook’s Island Bus

The tourism profile describes a nightlife tour operated by Cook’s Island Bus, with individual bookings through Edgewater on Wednesday and Friday or The Rarotongan on Friday. Treat this as an enquiry option: current departures, non-guest eligibility, ticket price and inclusions need confirmation.

Do not confuse a hosted nightlife tour with the company’s ordinary public night-bus service. A public-bus fare buys transport; it does not automatically include a guide, bar visits, nightclub entry or a late return after the last scheduled bus.

What to budget for and ask before booking

Compare the whole evening, rather than the ticket alone. Your total can include a booking fee, additional drinks, food, door charges and a separate ride if you leave the group early. Avoid arranging a rental car or scooter as your ride home after drinking.

Extra costs and conflicting information

Going Troppo’s current page lists NZ$5 cash entry at Rehab and NZ$5 at On The Rocks. Its January 2026 fact sheet instead mentions NZ$10 at Rehab. Keep cash available and confirm the current door charges, which venues are on the route and whether your ticket covers any of them. Card facilities may be available at venues, but do not rely on your phone alone.

Going Troppo also has differing cancellation wording between its page and booking panel. Read the terms attached to your actual reservation, including what happens if minimum numbers are not reached. The fact sheet says alcohol consumption and smoking are not allowed on its buses.

A quick booking checklist

  • What is the full NZD price for our date and group, including fees?
  • Are pickup and return drop-off included at our accommodation?
  • What time is the final return, and what happens if we leave early?
  • Which drinks, food and venue-entry fees are included?
  • What ID, minimum age and boarding ability are required?
  • What happens if the minimum passenger number is not reached?
  • What are the cancellation and refund or credit terms?

For birthdays or larger groups, request a private-charter quote with passenger numbers, date, pickup location and preferred hours. Ask whether the quote is for the whole bus or per person, and whether there are extra waiting or overtime charges. Stay seated while travelling and follow your driver’s instructions.

Have dinner first, keep your return details on your phone, and leave the next morning’s plans flexible. Browse our Rarotonga burger guide for a pre-tour meal, explore transport options, or find more experiences in the local directory.
